Kennecott Copper Mine Tour
The Kennecott copper mine is the largest open-pit mine in the world. It has produced about 18.7 million tons of copper, more than any other mine in history. The mine is 2-3/4 miles across at the top and about 3/4 of a mile deep. Two Empire State Buildings could be stacked on top of each other and it would still not reach the top of the pit.
